Our Story

How it all started...

Enon Baptist Church was established on September 6th, 1842.  God led a group of sixteen (16) Christian people to estalbish the church. The original families were the Carters, Starnes, Barnes and Wades. The name of the Church, Enon, was taken from John 3:23 , "Now John also was baptizing in Eanon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized." Originally, the spelling of the church was Aenon, and it is not known why it was changed to Enon.

The actual wording and spelling of the orginal minutes, establishing Enon as a church, is below, along with the names of the original members.

Expanding the vision...

While Enon has a long and rich history, our focus in on winning people to Christ and sharing the love of Christ NOW.
Our goal is to continue to be a "saving station on the side of the road," as was indicated in some of the early church minutes.

Where we are headed...

We are headed out to all parts of our local community, as well as areas that are far reaching, to share the gospel and love of Jesus Christ. That early log cabin has been replaced by a modern church structure, with plans on continued expansion.

Be a part of our story...

Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 11:00 am and Wednesday evenings at 7:00.
